THE TREND – “SURREALISM” Sub-conscious reaction to negative economy…escape... New sense of creative boldness and fantasy... Surrealism... Escapes into fantasy. THE INSPIRATION SURREAL In this time of economic crisis the palette of the season was primarily monochromatic or neutral in order to provide longevity of fashion investment. Consumers’ sub-conscious reaction to negative economy was to seek to escape and to embrace a new sense of creative boldness and fantasy. Surrealism is an artistic movement that rejects reality and escapes into fantasy ... like the fearless experimentation expressed in the Surreal photography of Manray. This season, the fashion designers turned to surrealism to counter the monochromatic palette and used amazingly creative new shapes and materials...abandoning consensus and eluding codes. RED As a complementary trend to surrealism was the vivid use of ReD to add color energy amid the predominantly monochromatic or neutral clothing palettes. Red was used for color trim, in accessories...in make up, from the surreal red lips of Alexander McQueen to the beautiful ruby-red lips of Armani...and of course, in hair. notice the number of vibrant red-haired models on the runways this season! INVERT
Inverting angles... angular shoulders... pencil-thin pants...New materials or foldings or other avant guard effects for surreal shapes.
The Cut: For the confident woman…a strong cut without any compromise. The flowing lines give constant movement for a tongue-in-cheek, playfully confident attitude.
The Color: The combination of red and blonde, through triangular sections inspired by key shape of the dress, creates a sharp and strong effect.
GATHER
Exaggerated fullness.... mounds of material...Short full dress... Fantastically full sleeves.
The Cut: A wide bold fringe for a sophisticated look… perfect for even the most elegant woman.
The Color: Wide rounded sections with pencil slim ends at the front. Red is the protagonist in this ultra-exciting color proposal. A unique expression of the power of red achieved by showing 3 different levels of intensity.
TWIST
Experimentation...3D creations...rounded shapes...coiling and twisting effects around the body.
The Cut: Short cut for a young and cool effect…the irregular line of the perimeter gives a shattered effect for a completely new look.
The Color: A sinuous and rounded section twists around the head for a daringly experimental color effect. The red shades from the scalp to the ends and transforms the hair design into an irresistibly seductive weapon.
